Leaf and Volt Won't Be Silent, But Don't Expect Custom Engine Noises

Both Nissan and Chevy have agreed to equip their electric vehicles with some sort of warning noise that will alert pedestrians and cyclists that a car is approaching. But don't expect to be able to customize your ride with the Knight Rider theme song or "Stayin' Alive"— pretty much everyone seems to agree that such an option would be obnoxious.

Survey Shows High Consumer Interest in Plug-ins

More than 1 in 4 Americans say they plan to consider a plug-in the next time they shop for a car. That's according to a recent survey from Consumer Reports, which also found that 7 percent of respondents claim to be "very likely" to do so.

How To Buy a Nissan Leaf: Four Easy Steps

Nissan announced today that the Nissan Leaf will be available to consumers via lease or sale, in a single transaction that includes the battery. Pricing is not yet available, but the company outlined the steps to acquiring the pure electric five-passenger Leaf. Some customers could wait as long as a year after placing an order.
