This is ridiculous. The battery is so small, at full 1000hp, it'll be depleted in less than 3 minutes. And a 20 minutes recharge is the rate of the Tesla superchargers (100kW). Nothing out of the ordinary.
Now a 350kWh battery, that would be nice. 30 minutes racing at full power with a fast battery swap, the spare battery could be recharged while the car races.
Volar-E Electric Supercar Boasts 1,000 Horsepower
Volar-E Electric supercar puts shocking 1,000 horsepower through its rear wheels.
The Volar-E hypercar is one of the most powerful electric cars on the planet, beating out the 700-horsepower Quimera AEGT01 and 740-horsepower Electric Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
Teased last week by Spanish industrial firm Applus+Idiada, the Volar-E sports four electric motors with a combined maximum output of 1,000 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to performance figures, the Volar-E is unmatched in the electric vehicle segment. Volar-E can dash from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, and can hit its top speed of 186 mph in 12.1 seconds.
Built in just four months (not 5-plus years like most automotive masterpieces), the European Commission-backed Volar-E features a carbon fiber body, a tubular chromium-molybdenum chassis and carbon ceramic brakes.
The Volar-E's 35-kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be charged in less than 20 minutes.
In September 2012, Applus+Idiada was chosen by the European Commission to develop an electric supercar, comparable to or better than today's gas-engine supercars. The vehicle had to incorporate the latest technologies in electric powertrain, active safety and communication systems. The vehicle that emerged from these guidelines was the Volar-E.
