Video: Department of Energy Primes Electric Vehicles

By Eric Loveday · January 12, 2012

Looking for a basic electric vehicle primer? Well, you're in luck. Just days ago the US Department of Energy (DoE) released its latest Energy 101 video and this episode focuses solely on electric vehicles. Called "Energy 101: Electric Vehicles," the video explains the basics of plug-in vehicles in less than three minutes.

The clip opens with this question: “Wouldn’t it be pretty cool to do all of your daily driving without ever having to fill up at a gas station?” And continues on by explaining how plug-in vehicles could eliminate gas station stops.

This informative video covers some benefits of owning a plug-in vehicle, including improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and lower maintenance costs. The DoE backs its claims with independent research and explains why electric vehicles make sense.
