Rinspeed Takes Aim at Electric Car Range Anxiety with Dock+Go Concept

Swiss firm Rinspeed aims to solve the "range anxiety" issue associated with electric vehicles with its range-extending Dock+Go concept. The Dock+Go system is unique in that it's specifically designed to match the electric vehicle that it will be fitted to. Additionally, Dock+Go is easily detached when its range-extending capabilities aren't required.

Volkswagen Reveals Plug-in Hybrid AWD Cross Coupe Concept

German automaker Volkswagen revealed its all-wheel-drive, plug-in hybrid Cross Coupe Concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. VW says the Cross Coupe melds a four-door coupe with a compact SUV. Volkswagen states that the design themes of the Cross Coupe will be featured on the automaker's future vehicles.

Analysis Paralysis: Audi Offers Yet Another Electric Car Study

It’s hard to keep track of the long line of plug-in car concepts from Audi. While other car companies (most notably Nissan) made a firm decision to make and sell an electric car three or four years ago—and now sells EVs by the thousands—Audi continues to study the issue. At the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, running through Nov. 27, Audi is now showing its all-electric A3 e-tron—what it calls a "technology study."

The electric Toyota FT-EV III concept will make its worldwide debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The FT-EV III concept, described as a "near future" vehicle, is based on the Scion iQ and previews the upcoming, low-volume production electric version.
