He was the first retail customer of a BMW ActiveE and was presented the keys to the car by BMW North American President, Ludwig Willisch on January 13th, 2012. The ActiveE is currently his primary daily-driving car.
Tom is an passionate EV advocate as well as a proponent of US energy independence. Tom charges his MINI-E and powers his home with his 8.8kw solar PV system and expresses his support for EV+PV combination.

He has worked with electric cars for more than 10 years doing research and consulting. He is author of a ebook (The TOP 10 FAQ about electric cars) and has developed an electric car simulator for iPhone called iEV, which purpose is to analyse the user's driving profile and calculate if he will be ready to drive any electric car in the market.
